Freddie Hayes
Freddie Hayes is a puppeteer and performance artist. Bespoke puppet making, performing, writing and producing theatre all fall within Freddie’s creative talents and remit. If you want silly and ridiculous you’ll find an abundance in Freddie’s garish characters and props as she merged live art, comedy and puppetry into a portfolio of performances that resemble a disturbing children’s TV show filled with tongue-in-cheek humour and clumsy improvisation for adults and children alike!
With CLAY, Freddie developed and showcased her work-in-progress and now touring show Potatohead - influenced by Marlowe’s -Doctor Faustus. Wearing a life-size potato costume, the show is about a potato who dreams of becoming a showbiz star. The production comments on self-discovery and hedonism and plays into the strangeness of the human condition through a variety of art forms, including clowning, cabaret, stand-up comedy and puppetry.
