Sababa Company

Bar Groisman is a Choreographer/Dancer based in Cambridge, UK, and founder of Sababa Co. - a contemporary dance theatre company that works with emerging artists. She prides herself in creating physical and theatrical dance works that push the boundaries between movement, text, music, and set. Through her work, she endeavours to share personal insights into everyday human struggles, creating a platform to tackle undervalued and underhighlighted issues.

Bar has trained at Dance East Centre and Northern School of Contemporary Dance. Since then, she has worked with many established and well-known artists and organisations, including Protein Dance, Michael Keegan-Dolan (Teac damsa), Joss Arnott, Sharon Watson, Tim Casson (Casson & Friends) and the prestigious Sadler’s Wells as part of the National Youth Dance Company. More recently, she worked as a company dancer for DanceEast, movement director for the Junction Youth Company’s new production and Associate Artist to GymJam Theatre, working in international collaboration between Italy and Scotland.

With CLAY,  Bar developed and showcased a new dance theatre work about women experiencing hormonal turmoil and distorted realities. Growing up, Bar was never told about the emotional and mental impact of her period, PMS or contraception. Physicalising the heavy burden women carry and society’s disregard for our circumstances and real experiences. The project provided a much-needed platform and helped tackle the lack of information for young women.
