CLAYground: Ro Hardaker

  • CLAY 1, 2 Regent St, Leeds LS2 7QA United Kingdom (map)

CLAYground is a monthly chance to simply see and seriously play.

We’re throwing the doors wide open on the first Friday of every month! Come to cavort with us. Bring your curious pals and your great chat and observe new artistic ideas and experiments come to life.

Booking is advised There is a reservation fee and the price of the ticket will get you that amount off you're first round of drinks unless you decide to donate the cost to CLAY.

Ro Hardaker’s invisible, without bodies.

With deliberate slowness, Hardaker studies haptic configurations and negotiates new processual terms, bodies and sites as they are being realised. Here, leaking and slick with prophecy she fills, holds and empties vessels; testing their capacities to tolerate and producing instances in which language and violence are extracted, then redistributed as intense affective encounters. Content notes: anal insertion, nudity.

Ro Hardaker (She/They) works at the blur between discursive, visual and embodied practices. Addressing access as the ability to enter or as an outburst of emotion, their practice is emergent, necessarily interdisciplinary and undisciplined. In the absence of their live work they provide texts, conversations, videos and objects which layer or complicate other ways of viewing their work. From 2019-2021 they were an Associate Artist at The Tetley (UK) and have presented work nationally and internationally at The Leeds Playhouse (UK), Tate Modern (UK), The Arnolfini (UK), Queer City Cinema and Performatorium (CA), Uppsala Konst Museum (SE), PAGE: Assembly (FR), SPILL Festival of Performance 2014 and 2015 (UK) and ] performance s p a c e [ (UK).

-----------------------------------------------------

CLAYground pilot series (August- October 2021) was made possible with support from Leeds Inspired to address the lack of non-hierarchical spaces for live artists and those interested in artworks to co-exist and test things out.

Additionally performances are relaxed, meaning you can leave the performance space at anytime if needed.

  • This is event is wheelchair accessible. We have done what we can to make the space accessible by including a wheelchair friendly portaloo on the floor of the event space.
